Sue Greene's topological sculptures in wood.
Installed view.  Second Floor West Gallery of the Science Museum of Virginia

My experience as a research chemist has enhanced my enjoyment of the substructures
that define the shapes we see in nature. Mathematics is one tool scientists use to look for patterns and to
“describe” them. Mathematical patterns, especially topological surfaces and fractals, have always been
intriguing and inspirational for me. My sculpture is abstract and may connect the viewer with the fundamental
architecture of nature and the cosmos
